After an eventful night in Southampton with Hugo Nunez. Tom Perrigo, Mark Lee and newest Tru family member Jim Acres headed over to Portsmouth to meet the Soton/Pompey Crew
First spot we headed to saw Sam Kew going hard very early and narrowly missing a dark side soul on wall
After this we headed over to Lennox road rail where everybody started to warm up properly
After an argument with the local residents about parking we headed to the famous buck land rails where the session heated up. Highlights came from Hugo and mark balancing tricks right off the end of the rail. But Possibly trick of the day went to Sam Kewy nailing a 3 switch ups
On the slightly shorter side things where getting technical with Jim lacing a super smooth TTS, Adam Potts with his signature sweaty as well as mark hitting some switches
By this time we had skated a few rail spots so it was time for a ledge so after the usual climb over a fence for a good spot we hit some ledges with two in a row great for a little line session
Everyone killed this spot and Max Pill Finished the ledge session off with a top acid savvy switch up
Final spot we headed to Pompey Uni where kewy and Mark both hit a mellow kink with ease and Jim finished off the day with a gap off a high ledge to the road.
After that it was time to wave good bye to the southern lot and head back to Brum. All in All a great day, loads of tricks were landed and great to catch up with the southern lot
With the Rush jam on the Saturday, the Sunday was expected to be pretty chilled. It was clear the aches from the competition were felt all round. With a good 7 hours before Jonny and Matty’s coach departed, Tom Perrigo and Mark lee decided to take the boys to a few spots in redditch.
We started at Redditch ledge but the park was very busy with people walking by. Undeterred by this the skates were put on and the usual favoured stances were laced by everyone. Mark landed a casual fishbrain then it was time to go to the next spot.
Proving he still knows more spots than Mark and Ben (despite having only recently moved back to Birmingham after living in Southampton for six years), Tom lead the guys to another spot in Redditch: A steep low rail and a mellower rail, now dubbed the two blues. After scoping out both the spots, Jonny jumped straight in unleashing some of his trick repertoire on the steeper rail.
After seeing Jonny do “a fishbrain just for the jokes of wearing a real big fish t-shirt while doing it”, Matty decided to get in on the action. However it was almost as though he jinxed himself, saying out loud that he needed to not be worried about the hedge. First attempt he gets a face full of hedge.
Refusing to give up Matty picked himself up and got the rail done, going on to land a sick royal to unity. Jonny just killed it with both an ally-oop acid and an ally-oop top acid.
Moving to the mellow rail, Tom dropped some solid tricks before getting behind the lens once more. Mark showed his current affinity to Mistrials with one of the topside variety. Jonny continued to show off how many tricks he has with a textbook front torque.
Mark finished things off with a couple more tricks and then it was time to hit a pub.
Finishing a great day and a fantastic weekend off with a beer and a burger, perfect!
