So when did you start skating, your were a late bloomer weren’t you?
At 21, i had rollerblades as a kid but didn’t take it seriously untill i met local ledgend Ian “The Baptist” Cross in a club, he spent the next 2 Weeks teaching me how to top soul a 4 foot mini ramp at Whitley skatepark
So what was the scene like when you were starting out ?
Full of weirdo’s, drug addicts, geeks, jobsworths and Bangers, I don’t think I would have ever met a group of guys like that without skating. we had an interesting few years of alcohol and trying to skate with hangovers back then
Heard a lot about northliegh corner can you please fill us in about that
Northleigh Corner was the name of the shit whole flat block me and Bangers (Steve Williams) lived in… All the skaters would meet up there before skating or nights out, there was some crazy parties back then, once someone smashed all the plates on the floor and danced barefoot through them, TV’s got thrown off of balconys and we used to grind the edge of the sofa on rainy days. Messy times. We never got the deposit back!
Good times ehh
What are your favourite skates
Any USD’s. At the moment I’m skating Carbons with Xsjado soul plates, I skated Classic’s for years though. But who gives a fuck a bout that Tom? Yawn
Okay where and who are you skating with at the moment
It’s hard to find people to skate with these days, I skate with turner when i can, he’s really motivated. Also Jamie Stenner, though he’s a bit of a Park rat
So you have a bit of a nick name “dirty Dave” can you let us know where that came from
i’m not sure how to answer that – I’m not actually unclean dirty, people started calling me that in Barcelona after i went out, got lost a came back to the apartment at 4am, with 2 Australian gap year type sisters… and insisted they both went and got in bed with Killa Keith (Wisdom) who had been in bed all day with Flu… It cheered him up!
You ever had any bad injuries ?
Nothing too bad, my skating is more technical than hammers so its usually from falling awkward rather than hard. I snapped the bone in my finger a few years back, it was all mangled and pointing up in the wrong direction, other than that just a few cracked ribs.
What do prefer street or park
A bit of both. Nothings better than a hitting a good street spot but i hate those days when you spend all day trying to get one trick.
What do you get up to when your not skating
Last one, got any funny/ crazy stories from skating over the years
When im not skating im usually studying quantum mechanics, string theory or general relativity. Physics shit really gets me off!
